I’m Author Samantha Schinder, here with my fabulous collaborator, fellow author, Merlin Love. We are so excited to present to you our crowdfunding efforts to refurbish a period property to turn it into a writers’ retreat.
We’re going to document the whole process and put it on our YouTube Channel so you’ll be with us every step of the way.

Any funds we receive will go 100% to the buying, refurbishment, and running of the writers’ retreat. If the scheme falls through, all money will be refunded.
A little background—Merlin is curated an awesome inspirational video coupled with a creative essay I wrote about the need to travel and have a haven for creativity.
I personally am a 100% disabled veteran with a traumatic brain injury amongst other issues and so now I write full time and live on my disability. I’m hoping to pick up a few readers along the way and pump-up Merlin’s fan base as well! I’m currently in the process of having my agent sub my work with major publishers, but it’s a long, hard road. I’m bound and determined. Meanwhile I have my historical fantasy series called The Deliverance Series available on Amazon, B&N etc. Please check them out! Merlin is in the process of editing several different genres of work including screen plays.
I won’t comment as to Merlin’s 9-5 but mine is this-- writing. Needless to say, I’m not wealthy. And to fund this kind of crazy endeavor, I will be using my personal funds. But the dream won’t be possible without you. The more funding we get- the cooler a location we can purchase and refurbish and the better the programming will be.
Right now, we’re thinking Ireland.
There is a program called Our Living Islands sponsored by the Irish government in an effort to help refurbish and repopulate their islands, of which there are 30 not connected to the mainland by road.
Having been several times, I can tell you Ireland is a land rich in culture—some of my favorite authors are James Joyce and Brams Stoker. I have actually sat in John Millington Synge’s inspirational rock chair on the Aran Islands.
How cool would it be to be able to help out with this program and accomplish our goals as well? It would bring a lot of people who are heavily interested in the arts and culture to the islands. And Ireland offers a beautiful backdrop, rich history, and world-renowned arts scene to boot. Who wouldn’t be inspired by a visit?
It's our goal to be able to create and provide a haven for those who need a respite, a bit of quiet, or a bit of joyous laughter, and some place way far out to wash your eyes.
