John and Terri McNamara deal with Ian’s aftermath

Donation protected
John and Terri McNamara were in the direct path of Ian. Ian ripped off their roof and dumped gallons of water into their attic. Drywall collapsed and they just need enough support from friends and family to secure the roof and stop further rain damage. FEMA help might be on the way. Ins co lost their claim. Any little bit will help to get them stable.

Update from Terri 9/30/22: First of all let me thank you for all your kind words and prayers. Warms my heart. Helps knowing you guys care. Love you for it. My sweet daughter Melissa McNamara Lazar and her wonderful husband Ray Lazar have been so kind and helpful getting us info and going on line to fill out disaster relief requests. They both have shown so much love and support, Love them so! Grateful to have them in my life. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Also I want to thank some very kind friends that gave us a hand cleaning up the mess. Jeff Holtegel and Barbara Cranston came over yesterday and rolled up their sleeves and jumped right in shoveling up drywall and removing damage. I truly appreciate your help. You are awesone! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Today Edna Hetzler and Frank came over and slaved away mopping, scrubbing and picking up debrie. I swear they are teenagers! Such energy. Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ This is my update on the hurricane battle: Roof pretty well gone. Ceilings collapsed. We have done nothing but clean. Not safe. Called ins agency right away but they are down too. Going back up Sat at 5:30 am. I'll call early. Darn saga: Yesterday I called claims direct. Tranferred to dispatch. They assigned 3 vendors. Tonight I called dispatch to check on status, no recoed of claim. They will check and call me back. Waited couple hours but did not hear back from them, so I called them back. Got lucky and got Valencia, lady I talked to yesterday. She was able to pull up my claim. She advised the vendors (3 of them) had accepted the assignment but later stated can't do . Too many claims. Only mitigation will respond. Problem for me. I need tarped. I told Velenzia I had contacted a roofer and they put me on their list. Can I use? She advised bit able to say. Not an adjuster. I told her tearfully my house will collapse if I do not get tarped soon. Explained drywall ceiling collapsed, roof shot etc, have to do something. She understood. We talked for 1/2 hr or so. By end of conversation it was agreed I have to protect my house and myself from further peril. Di whats necessary. I did call a roofer early on and he advised im on his list. So hoping he contacts me soon. I'll get him to tarp and estimate damage. I'll run this by my agent today when I get up. We have to leave but no where to go yet. Melissa and Ray applied for disaster relief for us on line as we have no internet. We should her from them un 48 hrs. Sad thing is I had called fema and left message when hurricane hit. They called me yesterday but I said we have someone coming out to tarp so not necessary. That was BIG MISTAKE! I did not know that the assigned tarp guy and roofer canceled out due to huge number of claims. I called Fema back tonight and was on hold 3 1/2 hrs. Waste of time. She was no help. I think she was drunk or high. I told her 'lll check back tomorrow and hung up. So, now I've I do have a friend in Northport Tonya Ballard and she offered her home to us. No power ( maybe no water too, not sure) right now but said we can stay there. Park where she lives was hit hard too so ya have to jockey around. She will let us know if power and water back on. We did see power Co working on electric in front of our house today, but we can't use power when fixed due to water damage and no roof. Skip said fire will occur and not safe. Regardless with no roof we will have to go somewhere. Hoping agent can help or disaster assistance. As it looks now We will need also AC, drywall, ceilings, floors, etc. Hopefully I will clear things up tomorrow with agent help. Whew....what a night. Time for bed!
