The World's Cassette Library Debut Presentation
Hi there,
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our page. We couldn't be more excited to announce that our musical, The World's Cassette Library, will be making its stage debut this fall in New York City as a finalist in Normal Ave's annual NAPSeries.
About our show!
THE WORLD'S CASSETTE LIBRARY is a new musical written by Mike Nappi, Sam Durant Hunter and Max Sangerman. In the wake of their brother Joey's passing, estranged adult siblings Krysti, Michael and Brian uncover a box of dusty cassette tapes upon which Joey recorded countless treasured memories. A journey into their past inevitably rips open old wounds and begs the most difficult of all questions: forgive or forget? Braiding together childhood whimsy and the harsh truths about becoming an adult, The World's Cassette Library is sure to leave you with a rich and revealing opportunity for deeper reflection, understanding and appreciation of your life experience.
Let's talk about this incredible nonprofit!
NORMAL AVE believes in redefining normal by nurturing an inclusive community of fresh, diverse voices and inviting collaborative freedom at every stage of the artistic process.
Our accessibility programming of new and existing works spark curiosity, challenge perception, and welcome our audiences to think, listen and respond in radical ways.
And we think that makes sense for some pretty damn good theatre.
We are Normal Ave. The door is open.
What is NAPSeries?
NAPSeries is Normal Ave's 29-Hour Reading Festival. For one week, we host 3-6 plays to be rehearsed and workshopped. It culminates in a weekend of community events and public readings of the plays. This year we've decided to host each reading in a unique community space (food pantries, art galleries, bookshops) and partner with other arts orgs to host to really elevate the community aspect of this event.

Doesn't Normal Ave sound amazing! We truly feel that they are the perfect production company for us at this stage of the developmental process and hope to maintain a close working relationship with them moving forward.
We've collected an unbelievable group of professional actors and musicians to help bring this story to life. We need to pay them what they're worth.
Normal Ave generously awards all NAPSeries finalists with a budget that covers basic production costs and stipends. Our goal with this GoFundMe campaign is to infuse that budget with enough money to pay all of our artists more for their time, as well as begin saving for a full staged production in the near future. As performers ourselves, we understand how difficult it is to work for free, especially on a project you believe in! Our dream is to cultivate a community where artists always get paid for their art. Right now, that requires us asking for some help.
We believe in this show so much. We want to see it fly. We want to change opinions, start much-needed conversations about trauma, and invite healing. Every dollar of your donation will go to the artists who will help us do that.
Thank you so much for your time. We hope to bring The World's Cassette Library to a theatre near you very soon.
All aboard!
