Hello friends, family and community. If you don’t know me already, my name is Secilee. Im raising funds for my brother-in-law who is battling a rare childhood cancer called DSRCT. Dan isn’t just my brother in law though. He is my first time mom cheerleader, he’s my songwriting confidant, scripture study buddy, fashion advisor and philosophy lover. He’s my comedic relief. He’s my constant reminder to always choose love. He’s one of my daughters first words, “Dya-Dya Dan” (“Uncle Dan”). He’s my friend. It has been 10 months since his tumor removal. It’s been a grueling battle with chemo while recovering from one of the most complicated surgeries that can be performed in humans. His mom never leaving his side, providing him his constant needed care. During this time the family relied on the financial resources that could be provided within the family. Many times wondering, “how will this work?”. Hitting a financial, and therefore medical, standstill in recent weeks, we have humbly come to realize there is a time to reach out and ask your community for help. This is then.

Daniil is a young, spirited musician who has been stopped in his tracks by a very aggressive and extremely rare form of childhood cancer called DSRCT. The tumor which was 15cm at the time of surgery stopped him from being able to sing, because of its pressure on his lungs. After a complicated recovery and emergency second surgery, Daniils tumor was removed and he’s able to sing again. Along with the tumor, his gallbladder was removed, pancreas partially removed, liver partially removed, stomach partially removed and intestines partially removed. He is now undergoing aggressive chemotherapy in Athens, with general treatment, as it’s the only thing they can offer. DSRCT is an extremely rare disease and it is imperative to get Daniil specialized care. There have only been around 200 cases since the cancer's discovery in 1989 and there is no established treatment protocol. Only a few specialists exist, so we need your help getting Dan the care he needs.

A bit about Daniil; a proud father of a gorgeous, yet cantankerous corgi. He looks forward to being a real father one day and likes to fantasize about his future family. Dan lives for music. He is a singer/guitarist/songwriter with a passion for designing and making expressive clothes to pretend he is performing on a MASSIVE stage; probably the most loquacious & happy person you’ll meet and awfully excited to talk about anything remotely controversial. He loves philosophy and ideas. Dan loves Christ and searching for meaning in his own life’s journey. He’s also an astrophysics enthusiast, but mostly just a young man willing to put up one hell of a fight to squeeze some more out of this beautiful life!

I have a funny story to share. Not too long ago Dan began a romantic relationship with a very cute girl. Early in their dating she called him on the phone. A college peer of hers witnessed him taking an afternoon stroll hand in hand with another girl! Dans girlfriend was concerned, who was this mysterious female he was walking with? It was his mom :)

Dan is the young man who still holds his moms hand on their walk to a coffee date. He’s the young man who builds up others and the women around him. The world needs more Dan.
