In a world plunging toward ecological and nuclear extinction, can a new story save us?

It did once before. In 1983 the US and USSR were racing toward a nuclear war because of the story we were being told - that we had to fight the “evil empire” and could beat them with nuclear bombs. Then President Reagan watched the ABC movie The Day After -- and discovered the real story - nuclear war spells global suicide.

Shaken, like 100 million American viewers -- and 200 million Russian -- Reagan turned from threatening nuclear-war to negotiating treaties to reduce nuclear weapons! The world proceeded to cut nuclear weapons drastically.

But now, once again, the world is embroiled in conflicting stories driving us into wars and a massive new build-up of nuclear weapons.

Another new story is desperately needed -- to wake us and shake us -- so they don’t bake us!

That’s why we turned our attention temporarily to promoting a new film about The Day After, called Television Event, which is just such a crucially-needed warning. Moreover, it is the inspiring, empowering story of how a few individuals with determination and guts changed the world!

Thanks to our generous donors, Melanie and Arthur were able to take on the role of Impact Producers. We sparked a widely publicized grand premiere and reunion of the courageous team that managed to get The Day After on TV back in 1983.

Joining with Nobel Prize winner ICAN and The Rotary Action Group for Peace, we also took Television Event to the United Nations -- where we promoted it at a meeting of the nations that ratified the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW).

Now in force as international law, the TPNW prohibits assisting, encouraging or inducing anyone to develop, test, produce, manufacture, transfer, possess, stockpile, use, threaten to use, or allow to be stationed on their territory -- any nuclear weapons.

We see Television Event as a powerful tool to get more nations to sign -- and get movements mobilized to start enforcing it.

That’s where you come in. Now you have the chance to join this effort by helping us promote Television Event through PBS broadcasts coast-to-coast!

We already have the commitment to upload it to the PBS network -- but a big effort is needed to get many stations to broadcast it and viewers to watch.

To get the effort rolling, a generous donor has pledged to match the next $10,000 donated.

Please donate whatever you can now to help us quickly reach that goal -- and double your impact!

Donate now, the future will thank you!
