Hello everyone, my name is Alex Withrow. I am sure by now you have heard about the Carr fire burning in and around the Redding, CA area. I am also sure you are aware that many have been so terribly impacted by this monster of a disaster. Not only has my immediate family been impacted, but so have countless other family members, friends, and homes of friends' parents. Living in North Carolina, I feel so helpless and wish I could just be with my family during these very hard times. I feel, for now, that starting a Gofundme page is one small gesture I can make in helping them out.
My parents awoke on Thursday morning (July 26, 2018) and decided, before work, that they should probably pack some bags and be prepared to evacuate their home. They woke my sister up as well and told her she should pack up some stuff and leave with them when they headed out for their jobs. They had considered going home after work and packing, then leaving. Fortunately they decided on packing before, and if they hadn't, they would only have had the clothes on their backs left. They found out after a brutally long wait that their home and everything they had was taken by the fire. Thankfully everyone made it out safely. The picture below is all my dad has left, and my step-mom has a few things of her own.
So many people have been impacted, but I am asking for any donations people may want to give for my immediate family. My family is so thankful for all of the kind words, thoughts, and prayers people are continuously showing them. If you are not in a position to donate money, your prayers are truly appreciated.
