The Wishstar's - Landslide Evacuees

We the Wishstar's (Vanessa, Steve, Hunter & Raven) are one of the families of survivors of the big landslide on Beach Road in Haines, AK. It was/is a terrifying situation of having to leave everything at once, grabbing what you can carry on your back - mine was my baby and run down into the ocean, being rescued by fisherman to safety. The south end of Beach Rd., is now uninhabitable and inaccessible probably till fall of 2021, if that. All power is down so everything was left out and garbage rotting, food spoiled, refrigerators and deep freezers probably leaking. Think Chernobyl. Not to mention everything we cherish and also necessities essentially gone. No vehicles, no Christmas presents (but we received a lot of donations for that thanks to all my friends and town charities). To understand the scope of it. Drop everything and run out of your house now. Keep running. What you have, is what I have. 

As you know we have two kids; Hunter (M) age 5 (turning 6 on Jan. 3rd) and Raven (F) just turned 2. They are so brave, but also working through their own trauma. This year has been a doozy for us, given we just finished fully moving here from CO, then went on vacation last Christmas, got stuck in the lower 48 due to the ferry drama, lost our job (main source of income), then Covid, we got really sick x 2 while being displaced for 7 months. Finally made it home to Haines in July, only to be just settling in again. Finally got unemployment (1/4 of salary after 7 months of being lost in the system) and then this. At this point we're living a monk life of presence and gratitude. I have the bigger story written out on my FB page: Vanessa Wishstar so go there for details. 

Currently the Donation groups are trying to organize, yet our needs are immediate and it's not what The American Legion etc., can help with though they've helped IMMENSELY.  And a HUGE shout out to all my friends and family and bigger Haines family who have donated so much. But somethings are uncommon and we also need immediate relief, larger than what can be filled in person. 

I need to mention that this Go Fund Me page is not for the general public, as I'd rather you donate to the town's GFM group and the real trauma victims and loved ones. This page was made for all those who know our personal story and struggles and want to help with that directly. 

I feel deeply embarrassed putting up this page, but I'm at that place that we do need help financially. And so I open myself up to receive with much gratitude. Thank you for your attention to this immediate matter.
