Star Thieves is a multicultural, sci-fi, action drama about a man who is addicted to a substance that causes global genocide.

Hi, my name is Dennis Hill! When I was seven years old, I was paired with a mentor through Big Brother and Big Sisters of Central Maryland and United Way. I was going through some tough times as a young boy in Baltimore, and the guidance I received (and still receive to this day) helped save my life. It led me to art, and eventually, I learned how to turn my pain into something I love – filmmaking.

Star Thieves is the result. I spent three years developing a deeply personal piece – a mix between HBO’s THE WIRE and BLACK PANTHER – that explores addiction, empathy, and healing. I wrote a 112-page screenplay, directed, produced, financed, and starred in the first 40 minutes of that feature film. And through this journey, I’ve come to understand something powerful: we’re all addicted to something, and sometimes our choices affect others in ways we don’t realize. This story is about seeing that truth…and beginning to heal.

The sci-fi and action keep it entertaining, but the heart of this project is real. It changed my life.

Where your donation goes - Completing the Star Thieves feature film:

Casting crew pay – supporting the talented actors, camera team, sound engineers, costume designers, and others who bring the story to life.

Equipment rental – high-quality cameras, lighting, sound gear, drones, and specialty rigs for stunts and fight scenes.

Locations and permits – securing diverse and dynamic shooting locations, and covering legal permits to film there.

Production design – building the multicultural, futuristic world of thieves through costumes, props, set pieces, and visual storytelling.

VFX and post-production – editing, color correction, visual effects, sound mixing, and music scoring to finish the film at a professional level.

Stunt coordination and fight choreography – designing and executing action scenes, including the exciting fight sequence teased in the post-credits footage.

Transportation and lodging – moving cast, crew, and gear to set locations and providing accommodations when needed.

Meals on set – feeding our team to keep energy and morale high during long shoot days.

Marketing and distribution – festival submissions, kits, promotional materials, and preparing for wide release.

Insurance and legal fees – ensuring safety on set and protecting the production with proper coverage and legal support.
