As the people closest to me know, Winnie recently developed a mandibular mass that grew rapidly over a week’s time. We are still unsure if the tumour is benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous) but the longer it goes untreated/undiagnosed the chance of her becoming sicker increases. Her 3rd birthday just passed on August 16th so this is concerning considering she’s always been in good health and because she’s so young. I’ve had appointments with a few different vet’s now including The Ontario Veterinarian College in Guelph. The prices of her vet bills surpass what I can afford to pay by myself. The first step of the process would be to get a biopsy to figure out if this is cancer or not, which is 1500-2500$. After this would come any scans necessary which I was told are also going to cost upto 2000$ and ultimately she will be needing surgery regardless of the outcome. I was told this could cost upwards of 5000$. Along with all of these steps there will be any medication she needs as well and her veterinarian appointments are all out of town. Winnie is my best friend and my life line, I don’t know what I would do if anything were to happen to her, as I’m sure most people with pets can relate to. Knowing how tough the financial situation is in Canada right now, I understand people don’t have extra money to throw away but if anyone is able to donate, Winnie and I would be forever grateful.
