I'm raising £500 for The Weymouth Samaritans who provide vital emotional support to anyone in emotional distress, struggling to cope, or at risk of suicide.
I have the honour of being Mayor of Portland for 2026/27 and one of the benefits of being mayor is that I get to choose a Mayor’s Charity for the year.
One of the charities I am raising funds for this year is the Weymouth Branch of the Samaritans (also known as the Samaritans of Dorset at Weymouth)
Weymouth Samaritans are completely self funding, receiving no funding from the central Samaritans charity. The annual running costs are in the region of £35,000. Any donations would be gratefully received to help the Weymouth Samaritans continue to provide an excellent service to those who need vital emotional support.

So what am I doing to raise funds for the Weymouth branch of the Samaritans?
I will be undertaking another one of my 24 hour no-stop marathon walks around Portland. I will be walking continuously around Portland from 10am Saturday 31st October 2026 and finishing at 10am Sunday 1st November 2026. Starting and finishing at St George’s Church
The only stops I will make will be 'comfort' breaks and time to take on energy gels, food and drink.
