We need you to help get The Western Train, Blackpool's most loved illuminated
tram back on tracks!
Since the Covid-19 pandemic started back in 2020, the world has changed
significantly and that has meant we have had to change with it.
The nation’s favourite Blackpool Illuminated tram, the legendary Western Train
was in the process of a full external re-wire, body overhaul and re-paint back in
2019. When the Covid pandemic struck in 2020, our heritage service was
suspended, our team was furloughed and our income ceased in the March of that year. Now we are in the midst of a third lockdown just over a year later, the
Western Train sits patiently gathering dust in our workshop with its bodywork
and paintwork completed and three quarters of its wiring finished.
We need you to help support a treasure of Blackpool and get it out on the tracks
to where it belongs! Our target is £2,500 and this is to purchase the outstanding wire and electrical fittings to complete the job. When our engineers return from
furlough in the spring we need to be able to finish this project so that the tram can return to the rails in all its glory, all ready for the 2021 illuminations.
