This is Luca, the son of Heather and Kieran. Luca is 4 and has Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1. Most severe type. A rare neuromuscular life limiting disease. Luca’s day to day life is different to other 4 year olds. He has his food fed with a tube, he can't walk, he sleeps with a ventilator and he hasn’t got the strength to keep his head up on his own.

This means he has 24 hour care from his wonderful parents, Heather and Kieran. Despite all that, he is such a spirted little boy whom never complains and just gets on with life.

Luca has vital physio which helps to condition and strengthen his muscles. His parents make regular trips to Poole in Dorset for private physio costing thousands of pounds with traveling and accommodation costs.

Kieran, Scott L, Carl, Iestyn, Jonny H, Adam, Jonny D and Scott D have decided to do The Welsh Three Peaks Challenge starting in the early hours of Saturday 22nd August 2026. We aim to complete it in under 24 hours, in this order:

1. Snowdon 1085 M

2. Cadair Idris 893 M

3. Pen y Fan 886 M
