ABOUT THE WATCH

We are thrilled to be presenting The Watch, a new play by Isabella Waldron specially selected for a two week run as part of VAULT Creative Arts’ inaugural season at The Glitch in Waterloo, a newly refurbished in-the-round theatre. The Watch will be directed by Merle Wheldon and produced by Chris Edge. It is a contemporary queer love story that follows insomniac Hannah as she navigates the emotional turmoil of an evolving relationship with clockmaker Zoe. Wrestling with the complexities of queer identity, Hannah negotiates a fractured relationship with time in this funny, tender and deeply human exploration of love, intimacy and the vulnerability of sharing your life with someone else.

WHO WE ARE

Merle Wheldon is a director often drawn to plays about women, by women. Merle has worked as an Assistant Director on major West End and touring productions and is Co-Artistic Director of Bomb Factory Theatre, a women-led CIC platforming emerging voices.

Isabella Waldron is a playwright passionate about queer and intergenerational stories. Her work, often exploring themes of home, desire, and science, has been featured internationally. She is a semi-finalist for the O’Neill National Playwrights Conference and the Papatango Prize.

Chris Edge is a producer and actor with a passion for stories that demand to be told, work that pushes the boundaries of the live experience and theatre that disrupts but never apologises. With a legal background, Chris brings with him a wealth of experience that informs and influences his practice.

YOUR SUPPORT

Your support will cover essential production costs including set, lighting, sound and everything that goes into creating the magic of theatre, as well as the important but less glamorous items such as insurance, marketing and accounting. All of the cast and crew are operating on a profit-share basis.

We have set out fundraising target at £4,000, which is the bare minimum required to produce the show to a professional standard. Any support received over and above this amount will be invested directly into making our show the best it can be.

Your financial contribution to The Watch, no matter the size, is an investment in the future of theatre and allows talented mid-career artists that are navigating an oversaturated industry in crisis to come together to create groundbreaking theatre and forge meaningful creative relationships. The Watch is the first of a number of exciting projects in development by the team, and we hope that you will stay with us as we grow into more commercial endeavours. Thank you for your support and for being a vital part of our journey.
