Kayla's Road To Worlds
Donation protected
Kayla Taylor was made to be a champion. As a military spouse and mom of two, Taylor is an outstanding role model to all women in Muay Thai.
In 2018, Taylor began training under Kru Yai Ricky. She immediately knew this sport was what she wanted to pursue competitively.
During the pandemic, she was on and off training with the team due to lockdown restrictions which just built her drive to compete even more. She loved the sport so much that they would train in Kru Yai’s backyard, which only further pushed her motivation to compete. That effort and drive culminated in her first Muay Thai sanction fight in April 2022. In just under a year, she has competed in 10 fights.
Taylor balances her family life with her dedication to a healthy lifestyle. She trains over 15 hours a week by weight lifting and running 5-10km, on top of her Muay Thai practices. While living long distance from her husband due to military postings, she is a full-time parent who puts her kids first and teaches them the importance of an active life and getting them involved in Muay Thai as well. The dedication and commitment she shows in and out of the gym is a great representation of the sport not just for women or moms, but for all.
Kayla Taylor was honoured by the decision amongst Krus and Ajahns to represent Team Canada in Muay Thai. She will be competing in the World Championships of the International Federation of Muaythai Association (IFMA) held in Thailand.
It would mean a lot for any support given to help Kayla compete for gold. All donations will go towards travel, training and food expenses.
