My Story – Mayar Wael | A Dental Student from Gaza

My name is Mayar Wael. I am 20 years old, and I am a second-year dental student at Al-Azhar University in Gaza, Palestine.

I have always dreamed of becoming a dentist. Education has never been just a degree to me; it is my hope for a better future, my way of helping others, and my opportunity to build a dignified life. Despite the hardships surrounding me, I continue to hold on to this dream and work hard to achieve it.

But life in Gaza has made even the simplest things incredibly difficult.

My family and I have endured displacement, fear, loss, and extremely difficult living conditions. We struggle to secure a safe place to live, and paying our monthly rent has become a constant challenge. My father is also suffering from health problems and requires ongoing medical treatment and medication. In addition, my brother has been injured and needs care and support.

I am trying to do everything I can to help my family while continuing my education. Unfortunately, the financial difficulties have also affected my university studies. My accumulated tuition fees have prevented me from completing some academic requirements and sitting for my midterm examinations. I also need essential dental instruments and supplies to attend practical classes and continue my studies.

Sometimes, I feel that I am being forced to choose between supporting my family and pursuing the future I have worked so hard for. Yet I refuse to give up on my dream.

I created this campaign because my family and I cannot face these challenges alone.

Your donations will help us cover our urgent living expenses, including rent, my father's medical treatment, my injured brother's needs, and the educational expenses and dental supplies I need to continue university.

Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a meaningful difference. If you cannot donate, sharing my story with others would also mean so much to us.

I am not asking for an easy life. I am simply asking for the chance to survive, continue my education, support my family, and one day become the dentist I have always dreamed of being.
