This is my cousin Rebecca Walker. She has been super ill since December 2021. A week before Christmas she had Gastric Sleeve Corrective Surgery. Shortly after she had the surgery did she soon experience many different symptoms that wasn’t normal. She started vomiting and couldn’t even keep saliva down. She went to the hospital mid January and she was in full organ failure caused from starvation ketoacidosis due to the duodenum switch being stitched too tight and this was determined from an endoscopy. With this new information this procedure prevented all opportunities for her body to receive the necessary nutrients to survive. She was dying. After a few days in the hospital she was given a pic line and sent home to the care of home health to have the nurse come and give her the meds needed to get well and on her way to recovery. In between her hospital stay, she contracted COVID again along with pneumonia.
A couple weeks later, she had developed some discoloration on her fingers and toes. She was taken to the hospital again, but she was much much worse. Her body contracted a Staph infection and it was throughout along with bacteria infection with multiple abscesses. Her heart had been suffering the worst. She has had multiple issues especially seizures and is now needing an Aortic Heart Valve transplant. However with this surgery she needed to have 2 negative cultures on her blood. Not 1 but 2.
Yesterday she was life flighted from the hospital at Chandler Regional to St Joseph’s Medical Center so she could have this life saving transplant that is better equipped to give Rebecca all life saving measures. From the OR to all staff with this severely risky situation.
Meanwhile this is all happening to our dear Rebecca her husband Tim hasn’t been able to work. Her mother Gigi has been a saving grace as she has been at the hospital every day and night for weeks along with Tim. The pure exhaustion has been overwhelming. The many prayers and not knowing the day to day there is no way he’s been able to work. His mother is helping with the care of the 3 children while he’s been away at the hospital and church members have been bringing in meals. Which has been wonderful. They are now to the point that they are getting behind on their living expenses. If you can see it in your heart and budget to contribute anything please consider helping The Walker Family.
