Hello! You there, supporter of the arts, or friend/family of the talent, you.
We need your help.
WHAT:
A few film friends have gotten together to organize and participate in the February AGRtists Monthly Short Film Challenge.
WHAT WE NEED:
Your contributions, in any amount! And we're giving away some cool stuff, too! (see REWARDS below)
WHY:
Exposure. In the very competitive world of acting and filmmaking, it's hard to get seen. By participating in this Short Film Challenge, our work will be seen by casting directors, agents, independent producers and directors
Collaborative spirit. We get work with people we've long admired and met along the festival way. By agreeing to work for free, we can create our own work in a very low-budget (but high quality) way to make this dream happen.
To tell a story. We've reached out to an award winning director/writer who tells spiritual tales, and her company aligns with the creed that every story should have a message, and every piece of art should teach a lesson.
WHEN:
The AGRtists February Short Film Challenge begins on Friday, Feb 10 and must be sent in by Monday, Feb 20. A VERY tight schedule when you consider:
1) Writing according to theme
2) Filming
3) Editing
4) Color correction
5) Scoring
6) Post sound
WHAT:
Our Story. Our director has come up with a concept according to the actors we presented her with. Once the theme is unmasked, she will write the script keeping in mind the spiritual idea she has and marry it to the theme of the contest. It's The Waiting Room.
WHO:
Pleasure to meet you.
Jennifer Jiles
Jennifer Jiles is an Emmy Award-winning comedic actress who’s worked with such stars as Tim Conway, Tom Poston, Samantha Eggar and Carl Reiner. She is also perhaps one of the best known Ex-Radio City Rockettes because of her critically-acclaimed Off Broadway solo show, “KICKING & SCREAMING, The Musical!” about her years at The Music Hall. Ms. Jiles has guest starred on the web series “Small Miracles” starring Judd Hirsch, and has appeared in the films “Flat Brim”, “Hey, You Never Know” and “Restaurant” starring Adrian Brody, as well as on television, including “100 Centre Street”, “Guiding Light” and “As the World Turns.” Jennifer can be heard and seen in numerous commercials (TV & radio), narrates children’s, young adult, non-fiction and fantasy genre audio books, and is a real life overworked overburdened Super Mom of two boys, the writer/producer and 2x BEST ACTRESS WINNER and BREAKOUT PERFORMANCE WINNER for the lead role in the multi-award winning comedic short film “Mother of the Week”.

Heather Brittain O'Scanlon
Heather is becoming a regular fixture in the NYC Independent film scene. Look for her to hit the festival circuit in 2 new films - “Tom’s Dilemma”, a feature directed by Miguel Gluckstern, and produced by the Sundance award-winning Darren Dean (Tangerine, Kinyarwanda, Prince of Broadway) and "As It Seems" - a film by Nancy Menagh, in which Heather has the lead role. Prior to those projects, she played a lead role in the feature film “Rearview Mirrors”, written & directed by Jonathan Lipp (Big Apple Film Festival founder). Heather also had a principal role in “The End”, starring Cassidy Lehrman (HBO’s Entourage).
Heather is also President of SOS Productions. She produced, co-wrote and co-stars in the short film "House Broken", which is currently doing the festival circuit, and "Lunch Thief", which is in post-production. In addition to her film work, Heather is a recurring "friend of the show" of Chasing News (Fox5, My9, Fox29) and hosts segments for FashionOne TV. Heather produced her own music video, has done a number of commercials, as well as voice over work for television, commercials and film.

Justin L. Wilson
Justin began performing at the age of 8 in a national PSA for seatbelt safety and signed with the prestigious Gilchrist agency. He was accepted into NYU's Tisch School for the Arts along with Soleil Moon Frye, but opted to attend Towson University. At Towson, he was a member of the resident improv based Catalyst Theatre Company, home to fellow alum Amy Schumer, Charles Dutton & John Glover. Following graduation, Justin was cast in "The Replacements" starring Keanu Reeves and Gene Hackman and was invited to join the Screen Actors Guild. In 2001, a chance meeting welcomed a decade long career with the #1 recording duo in music history, Hall & Oates. When his Maneater journey came to an end, Justin called upon childhood friend, Brette Goldstein and began working as an Associate Casting Director. In July of 2014, a random call offered the opportunity to perform in the pilot of Martin Scorsese's Vinyl... and he realized his life passion once again.
Recently, Justin was cast as Vlad in the comedy pilot Finding Fabulous, which has been picked up for a full series. He can currently be seen in a national McDonald's commercial and will premiere in early 2017 as Nathan Hobson on the CBS hit series Madam Secretary & as Tad on Hulu's The Path. www.thisismrwilson.com
