"Virgin Queen" Fundraiser
Donation protected

In her desperate campaign to win Prom Queen, Sovereignty High sophomore Donya Rahimi must conquer the only thing standing in her way of the crown: her virginity.
PRODUCTION UPDATE!
We wrapped up our month of filming on June sixth and it was a dream come true! I am still in awe of what a talented cast and crew came together to make this happen. I am counting down to the day till we can all be working on set full time!
While I was across the pond teaching this summer, we were hard at work in post-production. Watching the footage during the editing process and seeing this project come together has been incredible! I’m so excited to finally share these episodes with you all!
In the meantime: Money, money, money (please)!
I know. How could we need MORE donations, you may ask? We’ve already received incredible support. Well, we have hired state of the art editors, music composers, colorists, sound editors (and more!) and they do not come cheap. We are looking for help paying them for their incredible work in making these episodes come to life. In the meantime, please enjoy some new BTS photos!

PREMISE
Donya (the character) has always known that she was destined for greatness. And after watching the cheeky coming-of-age movie Carrie, she knew that greatness would come in the form of a crown. Though Donya was never allowed to finish the film Carrie, she's sure that Carrie's story is uplifting and inspiring, much like her own. Follow Donya as she navigates the challenges and titillation of sophomore year, all on her quest to win the coveted title of Prom Queen.
"Virgin Queen" is a web series inspired by creator Donya Rahimi's high school experience, or rather, her fantasy version. For your viewing pleasure, Donya relives the trials of high school in all their glory. The desperation for popularity, the struggle with personal identity, the scheming for romantic conquests! You remember, don't you?
OUR STORY
For as long as I can remember, I've always wanted to be in my own TV show (I got my start at age 5 putting on plays for my family every Thanksgiving). However, after seeing the work of creators such as Mindy Kaling, I became inspired not only to be in a T.V. show but to create my own.
After graduating high school, I came up with an idea for a series called "Virgin Queen." I wanted to create a high school coming-of-age story based on my own eccentric experiences, or rather, my fantasy version. Then, in my senior year of college, I was given an assignment that allowed me to put my ideas to the test. Creating my one-woman show was a fulfilling experience, from the writing process to bringing it to life on stage. Now, I’m building on that experience to realize my original vision of an onscreen project.
While I was initially waiting for Netflix to call and offer up a contract, I've decided to take matters into my own hands. With the help of an amazing team, I've compressed my TV show into a web series.
I have had so much fun already creating this world and these characters. Despite not having entered production yet, I have strong conviction that this is something I’d like to do for the long haul. However, since I do not yet have the support of deep-pocketed producers, I would love your help to bring this dream to life.
Sincerely,
Donya
