Hello Friends,
I have recently established The Violin Bowman music studio – and am asking for your support toward its completion and expansion.
ABOUT THE VIOLIN BOWMAN STUDIO: I established The Violin Bowman studio, based on Suzuki teaching methods, after discovering, when looking for music teachers for my own children, that there is a shortage of (but high demand for) string teachers especially for young children in our area. Enriching children and families through teaching violin has been a passion of mine for a long time; I truly believe a strong music education, that engages not just the student but the whole family, provides a solid foundation for success into adulthood. As some of you know, I taught violin to dozens of families in Chicago; my early students have grown up and gone on to such pursuits as medical school and business. I hope to establish a similarly successful program here in Ohio!
WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE? I found a conveniently-located space that enables us to grow into a larger studio with room for multiple individual teachers/lessons as well as group activities….. but it needs some reconfiguration and “finishing touches” to meet our needs. Room 1 will be a music gaming and education room where students can digitally experiment with music theory, music gaming, video and audio recording. Room 2 will be an additional practice space and studio for an additional teacher. Additionally, especially during the COVID crisis some families have been unable to continue lessons due to financial difficulties. To support essential musical education and enrichment for all, I have established the Dr. James Bowman Scholarship Fund to provide tuition assistance for lower-income / financial hardship students.
HOW CAN YOU HELP? Our fundraising goal is $9,000. You can indicate preference for your contribution from the specific needs listed below; or, indicate “General Fund” for the contribution to be distributed to the area of most need.
1. Studio construction project ($2,000)
2. Purchase of computers for the digital education room ($4,000)
3. Supplemental music education materials for the studio ($750)
4. Dr. James Bowman Scholarship Fund (up to $1,100 per year per student).
I thank you for your support. I will provide periodic updates here on our fundraising SUCCESSES in the months to come!
Stay safe and please, listen to some good music that puts a smile on your face. Thanks.
Jamieson “The Violin” Bowman
