The Vino Theater Upgrades

The Vino Theater was founded in 2021 as a space for low-budget indie artists to be able to create work for themselves. As the years have gone by, we've continued to grow and add things to the space to make it even better for every show that comes through. As you all have seen from being in the theater itself, we've had some great upgrades recently - we're doing two more big ones, and we need help!

The first one is inspried by our most recent in-house production, Hand to God. A good 70% of the show is set in one location, with other scenes in and out elsewhere. Instead of choosing to completely strike the set and then reset each time, we hung up a makeshift curtain to just close off for the scenes that didn't take place in a church basement. And honestly? We loved it. While it didn't look suuuuuper professionally done (because it wasn't), we loved having the ability to not have to knock ourselves out during scene changes by swapping out a ton of stuff, and we loved being able to go on stage before the show and during intermission for various things (prop switchouts, just general stretching, etc) without the audience seeing us. So, we'd like to create a better version of that!

Here's what we had for the show, as you can tell it was hung up by string. What we're aiming to get this time around are dark purple, floor-to-ceiling curtains that we'd be able to hang on a manual pulley system that could be operated from the tech deck. This would probably cost us aroun $500, we say "around" because things always turn out more expensive than we think.

The second thing we'd like to do is add stairs to our backstage area! For those who have been back there, we have an upper-level storage area that we pretty consistantly refer to as the attic. It's great for keeping things out of the way, but the problem is that there's no way to get up there unless we open and close a ladder each time. This means that it can't be utilized properly - we've got a broken couch up there that we can't get down easily, and other things that SHOULD go up there but would be very difficult to bring up and down our metal ladder. Adding a permanent solution to this would also probably cost around $500.

Our current goal is set to $750 with a stretch goal of $1000 to cover both. We know that we're all indie artists, but if 100 people donate $5, we'd be able to get one of these plans done!

Every little bit helps! Even if you can't donate, sharing to help boost reach helps out immensely.
