The Vincent Racing Team – A 25-Year Dream in the Making
Donation protected
Twenty-five years ago, Mal Hewett set his sights on a dream to chase a land speed record aboard one of the most iconic motorcycles in history: the mighty Vincent.
It all began in 2000, with Mal's stripped-down, 50-year-old road bike taken to the salt flats of Lake Gairdner in South Australia for the annual Dry Lake Racers Australia speed trials. That year, the bike clocked in at 121 mph. No record, but a deep love for land speed racing was born.
Since that first run, Mal has spent decades refining, rebuilding and fine tuning the bike... all from a humble Aussie backyard shed, using basic tools, unwavering determination, and the support of mates who shared the vision.
Today, that same motorcycle is recognised as one of the fastest Vincents in history, having reached a top speed of 187.9 mph all without superchargers, turbos, or exotic fuels. Just old-school carbs, petrol, and heart.
For over two decades, this passion project has been largely self-funded, brought to life with the help of family, friends, and everyday supporters who believe in what the Vincent Racing Team represents grit, heritage, and the pursuit of something extraordinary.
Now, in 2025, the team is ready to take the next leap.
Mal and the Vincent Racing Team will “roll the dice” and head to the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, USA... the spiritual home of land speed racing... to compete at Bonneville Speed Week and the Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials.
In August 2025, they will proudly fly the Aussie flag and the Vincent banner, chasing the dream on a global stage.
Bringing this dream to life comes with a significant cost needed to cover just over six weeks of travel, transport, race entries, and logistics.
If you’d like to be part of this once-in-a-lifetime adventure, supporting a passionate team of everyday Australians chasing history please consider making a donation.
Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference and is deeply appreciated.
The "AUSSIE ASSAULT AT BONNEVILLE" is about to begin!
With gratitude,
Mal Hewett & The Vincent Racing Team
