The "view" garden experience at Westview High.
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Bailie Govek and I'm a sophomore at Westview Highschool. I was given the opportunity to create a safe space for students by our site leaders, who have been supporting me throughout this process. The goal for the space is to give students a place they can go to find a sense of clarity and detach from the stress of school and daily life. I want to be able to help students feel like they have somewhere to go, a place where they feel like they belong, especially at Westview, where the academic level and expectations can be extremely draining. I want to create this space as a sanctuary for students where they can simply just take a deep breath, have time to think, or turn off their minds completely and just rest. Being able to create this place for fellow students and classmates would be a huge accomplishment, as I have a personal story of my own. I have named the space, "The View" with the meaning of opening your eyes to see clearly and look ahead towards the horizon, not what’s happening in the present and focus on what is to come. The "view" element, which is included in West"view," ties it to the school as well. The hope is to show students that they will make it through whatever is affecting them in their lives even if they feel as if they won't. We are hoping to raise $3000 to purchase furniture, plants/planters, etc. Any donation would help tremendously.
Please take a moment to review(link coming soon) the planning stages of my project. More to come as we collaborate with Interior Designers and Outdoor Space educators from California.
