The Vega Family Needs Our Support

Hello! This is Carla Altomare (Gina's sister) and Zeneida Maiorini (Angel's sister).

On August 21, 2022, Angel was in a near-fatal accident. He was struck by a person making an illegal left-hand turn and thrown 60 feet off his bike. He was Life-flighted to a Level-One Trauma Facility. He sustained sub-dural and sub-arachnoid brain bleeds, a skull fracture, a broken shoulder, 7 broken ribs, a lung contusion, internal bleeding, and his left side from his pelvis to his toes was pulverized. We sat by his side for weeks not knowing if he would survive, but miraculously he did. He spent several months in the hospital and a Rehabilitation Facility. Our Thanksgiving blessing was to have him home.

After an investigation, we, unfortunately, found out that the person who so carelessly hit him was uninsured and has no assets, leaving the Vega family with no reparation. Gina and Angel are humble, private, and giving people who have declined any assistance. Now that his disability insurance has run out, they are left with only one income. Angel has a long, difficult recovery with more surgeries ahead to hopefully be able to walk again. Because of this, there is no “return-to-work date” in sight.

If you know Gina, she is the first to start a fundraiser, collect donations or start a meal train to help someone in need. She constantly volunteers her time to fundraise for her son’s sports teams and his school. She is actively involved in fundraising for her school and her students in need. Gina cannot afford to take FMLA, so she continues to work full-time as a special education teacher, while caring for both Angels, taking care of day-to-day household chores, and Angel’s activities. Angel is a loyal, hard-working and loving husband and father who is always with his wife and son, never misses Angel’s games, and enjoys nothing more than being with his family. He is the ultimate family man and sports dad!

Any help would be greatly appreciated by Gina & Angel, and our entire family who has been constantly by their side. So many already helped with the power of prayer, and we are grateful for Angel’s survival. It is a true miracle!!
