The Vauxhall City Farm Appeal

Tax deductible

Our new video shows Vauxhall City Farm's triumphant return to the Lambeth Country Show after two years of lockdowns. Though we are proud to have made it through such difficult times, we still face many challenges. Our farm costs £60,000 a month to run, and, with energy and animal feed prices rising, our day-to-day costs are becoming prohibitive. As a small, independent charity, we are responsible for raising all our own funds, and it is only through the generosity of our supporters that we can ensure our continued survival.

These last two years have proved challenging for us all, and Vauxhall City Farm, like many small charities, has faced moments of devastating uncertainty. Like you, we have adapted, adjusted, and survived, but it is your support that has enabled us to do this successfully, which is why we are turning to you once more and asking you to donate to the Vauxhall City Farm Appeal.

We desperately need to raise money to make sure we can keep providing the essential services we do, and we need your help to do so.

Any contribution will help ensure that Vauxhall City Farm remains open as a needed space for our community to re-connect, get outdoors and access therapeutic, educational and support programmes.

Here are just some of the things your donations will make possible:
  • £10 buys two of the 150 bales of hay our animals need each month
  • £20 buys a kit to support our animals through our yearly lambing season
  • £30 will provide a child with SEND or long-term, life-limiting conditions with a private riding lesson
  • £50 will facilitate staff to develop a young person’s agricultural skills and environmental awareness
  • £200 can help train staff to provide lessons in our Riding for the Disabled accredited Riding School
  • £500 will help us grow and maintain our garden to provide a variety of educational workshops for children and young people
  • £1,000 enables a young person facing disadvantage and not in education, employment or training to enrol on our personal development programmes; delivering mentoring and up-skilling workshops, and equipping young people with the meaningful experiences, skills and networks they need to succeed

We know it'll be the generosity, resourcefulness and kindness of spirit of our community that will ensure we stay open for many years to come!

From the team, volunteers, supporters and animals at VCF: Thank you!

About the Farm:

We're asking you to help save a community. We're seeking your help to preserve a commitment made in 1977 by our founding community - that the Farm is here to deliver educational, recreational, and therapeutic activities that:
  • Support children and disadvantaged people to boost their confidence and aspirations via the development of personal, social, life and practical skills
  • Promote emotional, mental, social and physical health and well-being
  • Develop environmental awareness and action
  • Strengthen community cohesion
  • Create enjoyment and recreational opportunities for communities in London

What we do and the difference we want to continue making:

The difference we make is made possible by a collective effort we're so proud of. The activities below would not happen without our 300+ volunteers, our partners, funders and our corporate backers.

This passion for what the Farm can offer has enabled us to deliver:
  • Open-access Farmyard: providing a place for people of all ages and backgrounds to visit, connect, and enjoy the therapeutic, educational and recreational benefits of a farm in the heart of the capital
  • Work experience: equipping over 200 young people with the skills to succeed through placements that develop core skills, broaden horizons and help people into meaningful employment
  • Education and Training: welcoming over 200 schools and developing 7,000 children’s knowledge and understanding of nature, animals, farming, conservation, healthy eating and more. This takes place through subsidised workshops, programmes and activities
  • Youth work: delivering personal development and employability programmes to over 200 at-risk children and young people. Our programmes support positive outcomes around resilience, increased agency and development of new skills alongside supporting improved well-being and personal relationships young people need to thrive
  • Riding School: facilitating positive outcomes in physical and emotional wellbeing for over 300 disabled children each year through our RDA (Riding for the Disabled Association) registered and BHS (British Horse Society) approved Riding School
We also provide our 300+ Volunteers with opportunities to:
  • Increase skills and confidence
  • Make new friends
  • Enjoy the therapeutic benefits of working with our animals or tending our gardens
  • Engage with visitors from far and wide (for example, on our Welcome Desk and in our café)
  • Or to support and enrich our dynamic education and training programmes
