On Tuesday the 3rd of December, my sister, Jeanne-Maree (Jeannie) Vassallo and her four little ones, Charlie, Dylan, Rosa and Sadie (all under 7) were involved in a head on collision. The children have sustained some injuries and were cleared from hospital on Friday.

Jeanne-Maree unfortunately has received multiple crush injuries from her shoulders down. These crush injuries have resulted in internal bleeding and clots present throughout her body. Jeanne-Maree has already had three surgeries to help save limbs and save her life.

Jeanne-Maree was airlifted last night from the ICU at the Mackay Base Hospital to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where she will receive ongoing treatment and surgeries to help control her internal bleeding, clot formation, and help put her bones back into place. Jeanne-Maree was met in Brisbane by her supportive husband Matt, mother Barbara and mother-in-law Mary. There is no anticipated return for Jeanne-Maree at this point of time, but the doctors have suggested that she could be there for weeks maybe months.

We are raising funds to help cover costs for all medical expenses that are going to continue to incur in the coming months. We are also raising money to assist with accomodation and travel expenses related to Matt, Barbara and Mary, so they can continue to be there for Jeanne-Maree.
