My name is Kaunanga Pututau from Hauula, HI. I am a close family member of the Ungounga Family and have helped to raise the Telesia Ungounga children's since they were babies.
The Ungounga family, is currently facing an unimaginable path to recovery after the devastating Kona Low storms and flooding on March 20, 2026. Led by matriarch Telesia Mokofisi Ungounga, the household, including adult children William, Salote, Petilisi, Heinrich, and 1 year old Selasi-watched as the rising waters claimed nearly everything they owned. The loss is felt most poignantly by Petilisi and her husband, Brend Lani, who are now tasked with replacing essential supplies and furniture for their 7-month-old baby, Brend-Joe Lani. From basic bedding and clothes to irreplaceable family memorabilia.
Amidst this wreckage, Salote is preparing for a pivotal chapter in her life: serving an LDS mission in the California Riverside Mission on June 3, 2026. A future missionary should be focused on spiritual preparation and the excitement of their calling, not the crushing weight of financial ruin or the worry of how their family will recover in her absence. As she works to save for her service, the burden of replacing a lifetime of belongings poses a significant hurdle. By coming together to support the Ungoungas, we can ensure that Salote heads to Riverside, California, with peace of mind and that her family has a safe, furnished home to return to.
They are a week in to not being able to live in their home and trying to navigate this different lifestyle. The funds raised will go towards,
-Baby Essentials: Supplies, furniture, and gear for Baby Brend
-Household Furniture: Bedding, couches, and drawers to make their house a home again.
-Personal Necessities: Clothing and everyday essentials
-Missionary Preparation: Missionary clothing, shoes & suitcases that were ruined in the flood
All donations will go towards providing the Ungounga family with the stability needed to heal and move forward.
If you're not able to donate, simply sharing this will mean so much to our family.
Malo 'Aupito, Mahalo, and Thank you for supporting our family.
