For many of you may know our Grandma (Becky Sommers). She did daycare for over 60 years and has touched the lives of hundreds of kids. I hope this can reach some of those friends, family members, past daycare kids, and all her loves ones.
Grandma was diagnosed with a brain tumor about a week before Easter of this year. It came to a huge shock to her and all of us. But she knew that there would be a battle and she was ready to take it on (as she does any challenge)!
For the past 3 weeks she has been doing radiation and taking Chemo pills in hopes that it would help decrease the size of the tumor and stunt the growth.
Unfortunately that has not been the case. As the weeks have gone on, she has become very tired, her body feels weak, and the movement on her left side has slowly decreased.
Becky was brought to the hospital on Thursday June 13th after being advised my her doctor that she needs to have some scans and test done ASAP.
After running tests they saw that her tumor has actually doubled in size and the treatments haven’t been working. Which is what we were all afraid to hear.
She is meeting with her doctor today, June 20th to talk over what other options she has. Becky says she will continue to fight and isn’t ready to give up yet.
I’m starting this GoFundMe in order to help with any expenses that will come up in the near future with hospital bills, meals for her and Bill, and assistance for care that isn’t covered by insurance, and more.
She is one of the strongest lady any of us know. And through all the health issues and hard times she’s faced already, one thing that hasn’t ever broke is her spirit. She is still doing her best to make jokes, smile, and still making sure everyone else is okay. It’s just the lady she is and that’s why we all love her so much! This is our time to make sure she is okay and show her that love she has shown all of us our whole lives!
