The Travis and Jessica Lucero Family

My name is Sherry Dekeyzer and I am raising funds for my Daughter Jessica Lucero and her family. This has been an incredibly hard year for Jessica and her sweet family. In one year, she has gotten COVID twice, experienced a miscarriage, had a huge cabinet fall giving her a head injury. During all of these events, Jessica continued working as an essential worker doing high risk ultrasounds. As she continued striving to move on, as she always has, Jessica began to fall ill. It began with debilitating exhaustion, neurological symptoms causing faintness, dizziness, and leg weakness. It also caused heart palpitations and shortness of breath. It caused extreme stress for she, her Husband and three Children. The worry of not knowing what was wrong wore on each and every one of them. Eventually Jessica was unable to work or even drive. She went through all of her leave at work. When that was exhausted, she was no longer able to go back to work. Due to her inability to work, she no longer has an income or benefits to help take care of herself or her family. She had no financial support during her leave. Even with Travis, her beloved husband, working a full time job, it has left them below the poverty level. It is difficult for them to provide for their family and pay medical bills for the treatment she so desperately needs in order to hopefully recover from this disease and once again help provide for her family. She has been in and out of the hospital constantly. Many tests were run and they couldn't diagnose her. She finally found a Doctor who specializes in Long COVID. He knew the tests to run and she was diagnosed with Long COVID. Long COVID is a long term disabling disease for which she will need further treatment. People with long COVID, or “long-haulers,” are COVID-19 survivors but they have persistent symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, headaches, palpitations, and impairments in mental health and cognition. Some people recover and some people will be debilitated the rest of their life. I am reaching out asking for financial help for my Daughter and her family so that she can continue to receive treatment. Also, to assist them with family expenses. Her lost wages of $56,000 a year and facing medical bills of $10,000 or more a year make it extremely difficult to not only care for herself but also her loving family.
