The Trail to Healing Is Steep: Support my Recovery

Donation protected

Hi friends,

I’m sharing this with vulnerability and hope because I’m entering a critical stage of recovery from a severe and enduring eating disorder — one that requires full-time, inpatient treatment. This level of care is intensive and medically necessary, and it’s the next step toward saving my life and rebuilding a future rooted in health, freedom, and joy.

Eating disorders are not just mental illnesses — they have serious, sometimes life-threatening physical consequences. I’ve experienced fatigue, cardiac symptoms, nutritional deficiencies, and other complications that can’t be ignored any longer. Inpatient treatment will provide round-the-clock medical monitoring, nutritional support, and therapy to help me begin sustainable recovery.

This decision hasn’t been easy — and the financial cost is overwhelming.

Between medical bills, travel costs (since treatment is out of state), and having very minimal paid time off from work, the burden feels impossible to carry alone. While I focus on recovery, I won’t be able to work or earn income, which adds another layer of stress to an already fragile situation. Insurance only covers part of treatment, and the out-of-pocket expenses are beginning to pile up.

But beyond the bills and the diagnosis, this is about reclaiming my life.

Before this illness took hold, I was someone who loved adventure — hiking, exploring, staying curious, and now with my beloved dog Sage by my side. She’s been my constant companion through the darkest days. I want to get back to that version of me: the one who felt free on mountain trails, who had energy to participate in joyful movement, and who embraced life fully.

Recovery is the only way to get there. Inpatient care is the first step.

Your support will help cover:
• Inpatient medical treatment not fully covered by insurance
• Travel to and from the treatment center (including flights, lodging, and transit)
• Medication, lab tests, and necessary follow-up care
• Out-of-pocket costs while I am unable to work (due to no PTO)
• Ongoing therapy, medical support, nutritional guidance, and aftercare once I’m discharged

Whether you can donate, share this page, or simply send encouragement — it all helps more than I can say. I’m choosing life, and I’m fighting hard for it. Thank you for being part of this journey with me.

With gratitude and hope,
Aimee
