We are heartbroken at the loss of the light of our lives, our best friend, sister, daughter, colleague, Dr Piu Banerjee.

A brilliant doctor, still young and in the prime of her powers, she has just been untimely and suddenly taken from us, in the blink of an eye.

She was a brilliant and compassionate doctor who worked tirelessly for the good of others, and was beloved and respected. She was elected by her peers to be their national Vice President.

She spoke up, truth to power, despite suffering cruel and traumatic retaliation. Her goodness and truth challenged evil.

Even at the end from her hospital bed she was still speaking up.
