The Torgersen Family

In the spirit of giving during the Holiday season, please consider dontating any amount to this wonderful family of five, as their son Matthew (19) continues to fight Osteosarcoma. The funds will be used for medical, homeopathic remedies, Natural medicines and Nutrition. Lisa and Joe are wonderful parents that have been supporting Matty battle this aggressive cancer, in every possible way for more than a year and half.

In May of 2022, The Torgersen Family was hit with devastating news. Their son, Matthew Nicholas Torgersen 19, was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, an aggressive bone cancer often affecting children and young adults, just two days before his senior prom. If you know this family, you know that they have been such a special, loving part of their small Georgetown, MA community for the last 28 years.

Matthew has always been a talented athlete, a supportive mentor to others and working as a referee. In high school, he was a leader on his varsity basketball team, and also spent his personal time supporting other young basketball players with developing their skills both on and off the court. Matthew’s passion and dedication to his education and his athletic career is something that has always been such a big part of who he is.

Since his diagnosis, Matthew has had his shoulder removed and replaced, undergone extensive chemotherapy and radiation treatments over the past 19 months, and unfortunately treatments were not as successful as expected.

This past August, just three days before heading to UNH to begin his freshman year of college, Matthew’s scan revealed the heartbreaking news that the cancer had spread to his lungs, therefore wasn’t able to go to college. Since then, he has undergone two different lung surgeries, and medicines to fight his courageous battle. Matthew and his family recently decided to fight this metastatic disease with the use of Natural Medicines, Homeopathic Remedies and the best nutrition possible with Lisa’s (Matthew’s mom) continuous navigation and determination to find a cure for his cancer. Unfortunately, the healthcare to fight this battle is unbearably expensive, as these alternative medicines are out of pocket for this family.

As you can imagine, this year has been excruciating for Matthew, his wonderful parents, and his loving brothers, Kyle and Joey, who haven’t left his side throughout his whole experience.
