Heidi and Paul Tomasko need your support.

Recently, Heidi was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme, a serious form of brain cancer.

While this was a shock when discovered back in May of 2021, the family immediately took steps to mitigate the diagnosis. Heidi received multiple rounds of chemo, radiation and imaging scans. She has also endured many trips and overnight stays to the hospital, including craniotomy surgery to operate on the discovered tumor. While they continue to work through this difficult time, it has been a stress on their entire family, as they provide each other support.

Paul has been taking many days off work to support Heidi with her numerous doctor’s appointments. He has used all of his time off, including all his PTO and FMLA leave. His days off now are unpaid. Heidi returned to work for a short stint, however with medical issues like this, complications has forced her back home, where she requires constant support. Her FMLA and benefits are nearing an end, as soon as January. This severely affects the family's income.

Please help us support Heidi and Paul with their financial burdens while Heidi fights through this battle. It's tough enough to work through a serious medical diagnosis, while wondering how the bills will be paid.

Heidi, a principle at Pittsburgh public schools, has dedicated her career to teaching and to the success of Pittsburgh's public school students for the past 21 years. Paul, a school security officer, has also dedicated his life to the protection of those kids, and formally as a marine in the US military.

Paul and Heidi married 23 years ago and have two beautiful children, Ben (21) and Ally (17). Ben is currently in college and Ally will be starting this fall. To say this has been a difficult journey is an understatement. The entire family has chipped in to get through this. This is where they need help.
