Hello everyone, my name is Leith Ramage. I am one of the trustees and director of The TIN Wardrobe non-profit.

The TIN Wardrobe distributes free clothing to trans, intersex and non-binary people (TIN) across the UK. But you probably already know that. Because this year we have had the amazing opportunity to have our work uplifted with a spectacular documentary directed by Vicky Morgan, which premiered at the Iris Prize opening night.

Since our story found this amazing spotlight we have experienced an outpouring of support from all over Wales. So many LGBT+ people in the creative space are hearing about us for the first time, and learning what kind of work can be done when community members are given the resources to do so.

We wanted to create a dedicated portal for these new supporters to donate. We are also happy to receive donations through our website and our Patreon, however it would be really nice to keep track of just how much income can be attributed back to the amazing work and creative vision of Vicky, Red mountain productions, and the Iris Film Festival.

If you loved the story told in Wear I Am, if you loved seeing our recipient, June filled with the simple joy of being seen and uplifted by other community members, if you loved seeing a project built on the foundations of love, solidarity and support: Please consider donating or sharing our campaign.

Behind every single package we send, there is a recipient like June who gets to feel a little closer to themselves. Many of our service users are struggling financially, immigrants, homeless, closeted, or struggling with other marginalisation. Their stories may not have made it onto the big screen but they matter just as much, and its these service users you would be supporting most directly.

How will this funding be used:
This funding will specifically be going towards a few integral areas of operation:
  • £1400: Funding our new Free binder program that aims to reduce unsafe DIY binding practices by providing safe, high quality compression garments for free.
  • £4800: Funding our current storage and office space so we can keep running
  • £1000: Funding our free shop postage for one year. This allows those who most need it to receive clothing absolutely for free. We have sent (on average) around 163 parcels per year for 6 years, and with your help we can keep going
  • £1000: Funding to help support getting our charity details to as many interested third parties as possible so that service users can be referred directly through their council, through homeless shelters, through DV shelters and through community groups
  • £2000: Funding our volunteers travel expenses and making sure we can provide all the necessary equipment and tools so that volunteers can do their work. Volunteering should be a rewarding and enriching experience, not a financial burden to those good enough to sacrifice their time for community work
