THE TIME FOR HEALING AND SUPPORT

Donation protected
It began in June of 2020 during the beginning of Covid 19, Steven Day experienced a very scary Brain Aneurysm. He was able to work part time in the beginning until he began taking medications with side effects and 8 months of radiation treatment. He was unable to work for approximately 10 months in order to recuperate and get healthy again.

As Steven began to regain his strength back and resume normalcy, his partner, Tim Thudium began to experience complications with a collapsed & compressed thoracic vertebra. In March of 2021 during a CT scan, they found that Tim also had an abdominal aneurysm and would need to have surgery. Unfortunately, his insurance only covered short-term care with a nurse checking on Tim a few times a week for a few hours. He needed constant help to bathe, get dressed, move from place to place and driven to many doctors’ appointments. Steven was needed as his caregiver and again unable to work and leave him unattended.

In August of 2021, Tim suffered a serious stroke that left his right side with slight paralysis and speech complications. After a week in the hospital, he attended another 2 weeks of rehabilitation. After Tim returned home from rehabilitation, he had a nurse and physiotherapist come to the house only a few times a week. This wasn't sufficient rehabilitation; he wasn't improving well enough. Again, his insurance only allows this limited coverage. Steven again became his full-time therapist and caretaker. They had to make many modifications/accommodations to their home and lives. This is when they started living off their life savings. Without Steven’s full income, Tim’s pension and social security does not cover their full living expenses and their amounting hospital/medical bills.

Tim, as a diabetic, began experiencing serious issues balancing his blood sugar. One morning in June of this past summer, Steven found him unresponsive and couldn't wake him. Tim’s blood sugar dropped to '43' which is life threatening. He was still breathing but non-responsive and Steven called 911. Once he was stabilized at the hospital, they realized Tim had a series of mini strokes and his recovery was unknown. To pile onto this health news, he also contracted Covid 19 in the hospital which led to Covid Pneumonia and back and forth stays in the hospital from this all summer.

Around 1am on September 12th, Steven began to experience intense abdominal pain. He drove himself to the hospital to find after several scans and tests, that he has Diverticulitis with perforations in his colon. He needs to have surgery to remove part of his colon in order to heal. Without this surgery the diverticulitis will increasing cause more perforations, causing possible sepsis throughout his body. The likelihood of this happening is great, it is considered lifesaving. He has been told has to pay the high deductible for the procedure before the surgery can be scheduled. Additional medical bills will follow this that the insurance will not cover, adding to the mounting debt and inability to cover living expenses while they finally work to get back on their feet.

Steven & Tim are seeking help financially to get through this terrible two years of illnesses & setbacks. They have such pride & have been striving to do this on their own for so long. Sadly, they have depleted their savings and have had to take high interest loans, borrow from their families and friends to keep their heads above water. (Update) Steven paid his deductible with a high interest credit card to schedule is surgery. His surgery will be November 9th. 100% of the gifts you can give will help them sustain their home, living expenses & medical bills. Your generosity is received in humble gratitude.
Thank you,
Steven Day and Tim Thudium
