- Hi, my name is Josh and Im rasing money for Prader-Willie Syndrome by attempting The Three Peaks Challenge. For those who may not know what this disability is, I will explain briefly about it and the challenges it can have on the person diagnosed. Prader-Willie Syndrome is a rare genetic disorder caused by a loss of function on specific genes on chromosome 15. It's normally diagnosed shortly after birth but has been know to be diagnosed in adults. Signs in baby's are feeding difficulties, Hypotonia which is charactised by low muscle tone which makes it difficult to suck a bottle. This leads to having to use specific bottles for babies to feed. This eventually becomes the total opposite once the baby reaches childhood. Those effected without strict dietary and exercise control, the overwhelming appetite can lead to life-threatening obesity. The money raised with be used for financial help for families facing additional cost, funding research for treatments and cures, and helping organisations to offer support and services to improve the quality of life for those affected by Prader-Willie Syndrome. Me, Ethan and Rich will be attempting this Challenge with no training and hope to complete it within 24 hours. Setting off on Friday the 19th straight after a full day's work. We will look to start Ben Nevis at 02:30-03:00am on the 20th and hopefully finish at Snowdon after completing Scafell Pike at 03:00 on the 21st.
