The Thorntons’ New Home

Hi, it's me, Methany. As you all know, my family and I were chosen by the City of Marietta and Habitat for Humanity to have a house built as a part of a grant for affordable housing for public service workers.

We are quickly approaching the last build day for our house on August 19 and will close on September 23. As part of the agreement with Habitat for Humanity, we have to provide a portion of the down payment even though we are receiving down payment assistance. Here lies the obstacle...

As you are aware, I am taking care of my family of five with one income, so coming up with the 1500 dollars on my own has been a struggle. Once I put money away, I have to use it for car repairs or some other unforeseen emergency. I am working on other ways to raise the money but want to make sure that I don't come up short at closing. I am being very quiet about this because some people have chosen to be negative about this blessing to me and my family.
