A Heartfelt Message from the Organizer

Hello! I am Teleah Moore. My request for help is based on true events. In 2011 (the week before Christmas), I lost my son, Timothy (a star football player) to a hidden heart defect. He was 16. Losing a child is one of the most painful things a parent can go through, especially when one learns their child’s sudden cardiac death (SCD) was preventable. It was an earth-shattering discovery and one which had taken many years to accept. This film shines an astonishing trend on SCD of young athletes participating in competitive sports, while at the same time transforming what we think we know about hidden heart defects. And the message of this film is too important for it not to be shared.

With your support, you are choosing to join a movement I've been on for the last 9 years.  Am I against our youth playing competitive sports? Absolutely NO! However, I am undeniably committed to ensuring that all young athletes are heart-healthy to play competitive sports. I hope this film sparks conversations between parents and their children, parents and medical professionals, and parents and coaches concerning the symptoms and signs of when an athlete is in "heart" trouble. For some families, usually the first warning that their child is in trouble is the last warning. My son's death was the first and last warning for me.

I want to produce this film and get it out to the world. It's very special, not just to me but everyone affected by it. I am asking for your financial support. Please make your contribution today! Then share this campaign on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and via Email with your friends and family. I’d like to thank every single person who shares and/or backs this film. EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR COUNTS and I THANK YOU

Why This Story Now?

Let's face it. In some instances, hidden heart defects in our youth have been swept under the rug, and not dealt with properly. That was my son's case. There are rules and guidelines in place for concussions, but nothing has been done for the heart. This has to stop. My hope is that the film connects with viewers and they will be inspired to increase awareness and ultimately, the survival rates of our young athletes. It also serves as an amplifier to the already compelling voices of myself and the families who have experienced the loss of a son or daughter to SCD. I still live with the residual effects and so do many others.

Through THE THIRD DAY, I feel compelled to tell this story through my perspective because I am stronger to share it now. I aim to shed light about SCD with such intense emotions, to sound the alarm in a narrative that is shockingly raw but moving; bringing to the forefront, flashbacks from my own personal experience over losing my son. I don’t want the audience to simply observe, but to step into the shoes of the female lead as she painstakingly struggles with the reality of losing her son and the possible dissolution of her marriage. She is real, relatable and imperfect as her world falls apart. She is a grieving mother. She is angry and the camera will capture her emotions in natural light.

How Can You Make a Difference?

When you back this film, your contribution says that you see value in this film. I've already begun pre-production of the film including rewrites of the script, coverage, and table discussions to nail down the story and iron out the logistics for the budget, cast, locations, insurance and equipment. All contributions will go towards production costs (i.e., hiring of the cast and crew, camera, lighting and sound equipment, editing, music, food, permits, art, publicity/marketing, and insurance). When you share this campaign, your sharing says that you see value in this film. Likewise, when you offer in-kind services (donation of space, food, equipment), it says that you see value in this film. Stay tune for more updates, behind-the-scenes-footage,  cast updates, and much, much more!
