My name is Katrina (Wise) Sanders and I am a best friend of the Teal family.

I wanted to start this Go Fund Me page for the Teal family to help them with recent and ongoing medical expenses to help this beautiful family during this extremely difficult time.

Many of you may not know, but Everett (Howard) was rushed to the ER on 10/14 and has been in the hospital since. He was suffering extremely violent vomiting for over a day when he went in.

Once in the ER he was in diabetic ketoacidosis (with a blood glucose level of over 900). They later learned after an exploratory surgery that he had a massive hole in his stomach (basically, one side was completely gone), but were/are still unsure of the cause.

That’s when they realized that he was in multi-system organ failure from sepsis. He was placed on a ventilator and airlifted to MUSC in Charleston to complete the surgery needed.

He has now been at MUSC for over a week in the CVICU with many supports to aid in his recovery (ventilator and dialysis, to name a few).

He still has a long road to recovery as he fights his septic infection, regains use of many of his organs without support, and additional unknown scenarios depending on his recovery.

I thought that starting this fundraiser would help to lift a huge burden from the family.

Everett (Howard) and Hanna have two beautiful young girls pictured above. (That picture was actually taken about a week before all of this). Everett also owns his own business. While he is in critical condition, he will be unable to work, which will cause even more financial strain than just medical bills on this family.
