Jamaluddin Rahmat: The Teacher who Connected his Village with the Digital World.
Since I first learned about Jamaluddin Rahmat, I have been fully committed to documenting his story. This teacher, living in one of the most isolated parts of Indonesia, spent his own savings to bring internet access to his students for the first time. His story is a testament to dedication, sacrifice, and the power of education, yet it has never been properly documented until now.
My goal as a filmmaker is to give him a voice, to highlight the realities of digital inequality, and to inspire change by showing how one person’s determination can transform a community.

Why We Need Your Support
So far, we’ve been funding this project with our own resources, but we need your help to make it happen. Our goal is to raise €2,600, which will cover:
- Travel costs from Paris to this remote Indonesian village
To bring my documentary vision to life, I need to travel from Paris to a remote village in Indonesia. This includes flights, local transportation, and any necessary permits to reach and film in this unique location.
- Basic expenses for food and lodging during filming
While filming, I’ll need to cover essential living costs such as food and accommodation. This will allow me to fully immerse myself in the local culture and dedicate my time to capturing authentic and meaningful footage.
If We Raise More?
Any additional funds will allow us to improve the film’s quality by renting:
- Microphones For professional sound recording
- Lenses To enhance visual storytelling
- Drones To capture stunning aerial footage
Why This Matters?
Today, 2.6 billion people worldwide still don’t have internet access. I grew up in Nicaragua, where 41.7% of the population is disconnected, and I know firsthand how this limits opportunities and education.
As a 19-year-old Peruvian filmmaker and second-year film student in Paris, I believe this story must be told. Together with my dear Indonesian friend Andrew Kalaweit and his production company WhoOop Studios, we are committed to making this documentary a reality.
Your Support Is Essential
With your help, we can ensure Jamaluddin’s story reaches the world. Every donation, big or small, brings us closer to making this film a powerful tool for awareness and change.
If you can’t donate, please share this campaign!
Thank you for your support!
