In July 2022 my brother-in-law Todd suffered multiple strokes. It was found that he contracted a very rare blood disease (PGNMID) that attacks the kidneys and was treated with 8 months of chemo. In the middle of this medical trauma, his tech company laid him off due to corporate downsizing. When you are in the middle of expensive medical treatments, going through multiple biopsies, and taking 10 prescription medications a day to stay alive, the timing of this could not have been worse.

After a few months of searching, Todd has found work at Fred Meyer and Janine is still teaching, but medical bills have taken their savings and prescriptions, some of which cost up to $150 a piece, are taking their salaries. Jen and Todd are hard-working, proud people who never dreamed they would have to ask for help, but help is what they need. A medical emergency could happen to any one of us and the bills and lifestyle changes that come from that are the biggest financial drain anyone could have.
