Hi Everyone!

Thank you so much for checking out our page! We appreciate every single one of you that's taken the time to explore our project!

So, what is The Talk? The Talk is a short film written and directed by Sam Schneider which explores the toxic traits couples inadvertently pass onto their kids when their own marriages start to fall apart.

This short film is a passion project for Sam Schneider, with the support of Bruto Media, the hope is to tell the best story we possibly can, and do so with an incredible hard-working team of creators.

Better yet, here's how Sam would like to put it:
" The Talk is a project that's been with me for close to four years, beginning as a short script I wrote during the 2020 pandemic. I wanted to write something that captured feelings of anxiety paired with a sense of surreal absurdity, somewhat akin to what I think many were experiencing at the time. What resulted was a fun short script about a couple on the edge of divorce giving their teenage son, who, unbeknownst to them, is high as a kite, the sex talk. What could be more absurd or anxiety inducing. I shared it with a short screenplay festival and, after receiving some great feedback, decided sit on it for awhile.

A few years later I found myself talking about the idea to my friend, and our producer, Toby and it relit the spark of inspiration. After a few drafts we had ourselves a short that makes good on that initial premise, while also expanding on the depth of the characters as well as what we feel is creatively possible. In other words we wanted to build out a piece that prompts perhaps some deeper feelings and conversations beyond just the anxious laughter (though we hope there's still plenty to be had in that department) and focuses on how we can use the filmic medium to have fun and be creative in telling this story.

Over the past two months we've worked on extensive pre production, planning, budgeting and building a great creative team. Now four years from the project's inception we are just about ready to breathe life into this zany idea. We think our project has a unique voice and we would love the opportunity to see how far we can take it, something we feel would be made exponentially more possible with your support. We're very excited about everything that we feel it can be, and we want you to feel that you can share in that excitement by helping us get there! Thank you again for your time and consideration, and we can't wait for you to see "The Talk."

So why do we need YOUR help? The film is mostly funded, but we just need that little extra push to deliver on the vision the team is working so hard to bring to life.

Despite most of the above the line creators opting out of taking any pay for the project, we want to make sure everyone else on the crew is fairly and properly compensated for their time and their efforts. We love the confidence and enthusiasm from everyone on board, but it's important for us to be able to also give them fair pay for the unrelenting love and support they've shown us.

Every penny counts, and anyone who donates will get a special thanks in the credits for helping bring this project to life.

A little more about the Film:

Logline: An unhappily married couple must try to put their differences aside in order to give their stoned son the “sex talk.” However, internal toxicity may prove too strong as closeted skeletons begin to creep out.

Synopsis: Richard and Nancy are unhappily married, and their day begins as most others often do; with an argument. Taking his wife’s challenge toward his role as a father too literally, Richard brazenly resolves to give his son, Adam, the sex talk. Little do his parents know, Adam is getting stoned in his room, attempting to block out the regular noise of his domestic world. This proves to be unapparent and rather inconsequential for the couple however, as an initially botched approach to what should be a meaningful conversation, quickly devolves into a parental slugfest of epic proportions. Hidden truths are made blatant and no boundary is left uncrossed as the trio are transported to a realm of claustrophobic discomfort and Adam is forced to play bystander to a show of marital toxicity. And so the argument ends as most others often do, in a tsunami of shattered emotions, absent a victor. For Richard and Nancy, this is a just another day, a momentary outburst in their already twisted equilibrium. For Adam, however, this is a major turning point, forcing him to call into question his lifestyle choices as well as his already warped understanding of sex, love and relationships.

Thank you so much for joining us on this incredible journey, we can't wait to show you the finished product!
