On Saturday, 2/26/22, around 4 pm, my sister-in-law, brother-in-law and their 5 boys escaped a tragic house fire that quickly demolished all of their personal belongings and jeopardized their lives. Sadly, without renters insurance, they were told nothing would be covered. They lost everything.
The fire started in their kitchen from the stovetop; my sister-in-law ran into the kitchen to investigate the smell of smoke, where she realized the fire was out of control, reaching the ceiling. She needed to remove her family asap! She yelled at everyone to get out but her kids froze in absolute shock, so she picked them up one at a time and brought them to safety outside with just the clothes on their backs. While everyone was outside in the cold rain, some without shoes on their feet or jackets to keep them warm, she quickly realized her four-year-old son, who recently recovered from heart surgery, was still in the bedroom sleeping. Nadine rushed inside the burning house to save her precious boy. On their way out to safety and out of this nightmare, the kitchen glass window shattered, and fragments burned them. This situation has been very emotional and traumatizing for every one of them, especially when they received the news from the chief fireman that all of their personal belongings were deemed toxic and unusable due to the toxins released in the fire. Thankfully they all survived, which is such a blessing in itself. However, without renters insurance, they were left to start all over again.
This amazing family has been through so much in the past few years. Their prominent love for each other has always allowed them to prevail, but with such devastation, any help would go a long way for their spirit and comfort.
