The Stubblefields
On August 13th, Tom had minor shoulder surgery. After the surgery, he couldn't breathe on his own and after two hours, transport was being arranged for Tom to go to a local hospital. Tom suddenly went into cardiac arrest and CPR was performed on Tom for almost 40 minutes. During the subsequent CT scans, Tom nearly coded a couple more times. He was intubated and sedated until the following day, when they removed the ventilator. Tom is currently awake and talking but he remains in stable but critical condition. His road to recovery is long and the ultimate impact on his health is still unknown. While he is off the ventilator, Tom is still at risk for his blood pressure and heart rate to drop unpredictably. Doctors are being extremely cautious in his treatment to mitigate any risks as much as possible.
Tom provides the sole source of income for his family. He is out of sick time and, within the last five years, has had a serious motorcycle crash, kidney failure due to high blood pressure, and now this. The mounting medical bills and loss of income are placing the Stubblefield family in serious financial straits.
Tom has spent his life dedicated to serving others and his family. He is married to the love of his life, Brandy, and is the father of 6 incredible sons, ranging from adults to toddlers: Aaron, Cameron, Zachary, Gavin, Alex, and Silas. Tom and Brandy's hearts know no bounds, They fostered and then adopted both Alex and Silas and as a friends, Tom and Brandy will do anything for their friends and family in need, from fundraisers to support. I can personally attest to the love they have for their friends after they had a fundraiser after my brother in law's unexpected passing. My family is not the first, nor last, family to receive the love and support of the Stubblefields.
Tom has served his community since he was 18 years old, starting as a firefighter, becoming a paramedic, and then entering law enforcement. He currently is a Law Enforcement Investigator with Department of Financial Services and investigates possible arson cases in the Tampa Bay area. Tom also serves as a peer on the Tampa Bay Regional Critical Incident Team where he helps first responders process trauma after a critical incident.
All funds will go to support the Stubblefields during this time, providing them with income and help with medical expenses.
