My Step Dad Zack, has been a CPKC employee and member of Teamsters Union for almost 9 years. After experiencing the tragic loss of his baby daughter and my sister Briella in 2022, he was injured at work assisting car wreck victims on the tracks in Salmon Arm BC. He was able to return to work eventually but with chronic pain that ultimately lead him to be off again in this last year and denied benefits. Upon his return to work at a substantial demotion due to his physical capabilities, the stress of that as a proud, hard-working railway man and the physical, mental, and financial burden this injury has been on himself and his family, led him to feel trapped and with no other choice but to attempt to take his own life on May 16th and has been since hospitalized with no disability sick leave. My mom is a contract worker with no leave benefits and has to take time off to assist my step dad with his mental health wellness programs. It is unknown when he will be able to return to work at this time.
Donations will be used for:
- Travel for therapy and physician specialists and appointments.
- To try and off-set lost incomes to pay rent, car payment, groceries and bills
- Basic living essentials
- Food and supplies for our beloved dog Leo and special needs senior cat Casper.
Please if you can, help my family reduce the financial stress and get caught up on already late payments and be able to facilitate getting my step dad the help he needs so he can begin trying to live his life again pain-free.
Thank you
