The Story of Resilience and Hope:Helping Dr. Alaa and family

Hi there,

I am Alaa, a consultant radiologist working at Nasser hospital in Khan Younis City in the Gaza Strip, and I want to share my story with you. It's a story of resilience, determination, and hope in the face of the harsh challenges imposed by the realities of war, genocide, and displacement in Gaza.

The brutal war that ravaged Gaza with killing and destruction was a painful shock to me and to the people. Israeli planes bombed my home and destroyed it on January 9, 2024. My family, consisting of my wife and my daughters Noor, Arwa, Noha, and Fatima, and my young son Abdullah, are now displaced. We lost our home, which was a source of safety and peace, and it's now rubble, with the beautiful memories we once lived there vanished forever.

Additionally, I have to support my eldest son Ahmed, who is studying medicine at Zagazig University in Egypt.

For eight months now, I haven't received my salary due to the war, as my salary is paid by the Gaza government. The economic situation is tough; prices are soaring due to a severe shortage of essential goods and Israel's closure of commercial crossings.

Despite all these challenges, I have not lost hope and determination. I remain committed to my professional and ethical duty as a doctor, serving the community's patients and wounded despite the bloodshed, deaths, collapse of the healthcare system, and the closure and destruction of many hospitals. I strive hard to ensure a decent life for my family, a comfortable home, and good education for my children because hope and faith in a better tomorrow are what keep my resolve alive.

However, with all this resilience, I am now in desperate need of your help. The difficulties have reached their peak, and I can't bear all of this alone. I need your support, I need the helping hand that you extend to me and my family in these difficult times.

أنا علاء، طبيب استشاري أشعة تشخيصية أعمل في مجمع ناصر في مدينة خانيونس في قطاع غزة، وأريد أن أشارك قصتي معكم، فهي قصة عن الصمود والإرادة والأمل في وجه التحديات القاسية التي فرضتها واقع الحرب والإبادة والتهجير في غزة.

هذه الحرب الغاشمة التي اجتاحت غزة بالقتل والتدمير كانت صدمة موجعة لي وللناس، فقد قصفت الطائرات الإسرائيلية بيتي ودمرته في تاريخ 9.1.2024، وأنا وعائلتي المكونة من زوجتي وبناتي نور وأروى ونها وفاطمة وابني الصغير عبدالله نحن الآن نازحون فقدنا بيتنا الذي كان مصدرًا للأمان والسلام وأصبح الآن ركامًا والذكريات الجميلة التي عشناها فيه تبخرت بلا رجعة، ثم أنني أصرف على ابني الأكبر أحمد الذي يدرس الطب في جامعة الزقازيق في مصر.

منذ ثمانية أشهر، لم أتقاضَ راتبي بسبب الحرب فأنا أتقاضى راتبي من حكومة غزة. الأوضاع الاقتصادية صعبة، غلاء شديد جدًّا بسبب نقص كثير من المواد التموينية وإغلاق إسرائيل للمعابر التجارية.

ومع كل هذه التحديات، فإنني لم أفقد الأمل والإرادة. فأنا ما زلت ملتزمًا بواجبي المهني والأخلاقي كطبيب وأعمل على خدمة المجتمع من مرضى وجرحى رغم الدماء والقتلى وانهيار المنظومة الصحية وإغلاق وتدمير العديد من المستشفيات، وأسعى جاهدًا لضمان حياة كريمة لعائلتي ومنزل مريح وتعليم جيد لأبنائي، فالأمل والإيمان بأن غدًا أجمل هو ما يحافظ على عزيمتي.

ولكن، مع كل هذا الصمود، فإنني الآن في حاجة ماسة إلى مساعدتكم. لقد بلغت الصعوبات ذروتها، ولا يمكنني تحمل كل هذا بمفردي. أحتاج لدعمكم، أحتاج ليد العون الكريمة التي تمدونها لي ولعائلتي في هذه اللحظات الصعبة.
