The Center for African-American Church History and Research, Inc. Announces: Movie Project
"The stories of key women from the Church Of God In Christ Coming to a Streaming Service"

Glenda Williams Goodson, founder of The Center for African American Church History and Research, Inc. is proud to announce the launch of an important documentary film called “World Changers: How Godly Women Re-shaped America.“ This movie presents the powerful stories of COGIC women and their dynamic contributions on a local, national and international scale. Presenting the stories of our heroic women is a task that I am fully committed to,” said Goodson.

“First, we have to recognize and remember the significance of their accomplishments but we must also leverage the power of these stories to connect to the young men and women in the church today and set a new, higher standard for the next generation. We must not lose a generation of youth, because we have failed to educate them on our past.”

Lindell Singleton, Director and Executive Producer of the acclaimed PBS documentary, “Rising: The Hall of Negro Life” which chronicled the launch of the U.S. the Civil Rights movement has agreed to Executive Produce and direct the first movie in the series. Singleton is completing the movie, ‘Quakertown, USA’ – filming in Denton, Texas – and will begin production on ‘World Changers’ in July.

“It was essential to have Lindell involved in this movie because of his commitment to making relevant films about Black history, but also because of the legacy of his parents in establishing and growing the COGIC churches throughout the Midwest–and their early support of Saints Industrial College,” said Goodson.

Here is how you can be a part of this important journey:

Why are we doing this?

Women of faith --and most notably the women of the Church of God in Christ-- have tirelessly worked to shape the world for good. As missionaries, advocates and educators that traversed the globe to bring the tenets of the gospel to the vulnerable and the needy.

These women performed against seemingly unconquerable odds and brutal hardships to establish missions, orphanages and schools.

Sadly, unless we act, these e powerful stories of hope and commitment to making the world better will be lost to society's next generation. And, that generation will pay a price because they will not know their past.

We are committed to making sure this does not happen. We will accomplish this through the creation and distribution of a major documentary film that will be widely available--for today and for tomorrow. We ask you to support this mission. Clearly, we are compelled to honor the past--and, to create a structure for the next generation that shows them the truth of their history.

The funds raised will support the development and production of the first episode of a longer series. Our goal is to release the first episode in the Fall/Winter of 2024.

Where will the funds go?

The funds will go directly to CAACHR-- a 501(c) 3 organization-- with the full complement of donations being allocated for developing, producing and distributing the first episode of the series.
