Help St Flannan’s Students Reach the Stars
We are raising funds to support a remarkable team of four students from St Flannan’s College, Ennis, who have won international success in the prestigious NASA/NSS Gerard K. O’Neill Space Settlement Design Contest.
Their award-winning project, Fómhar, stood out in a global competition that attracted over 4,900 entries from more than 29,000 students across 31 countries. Their 2nd Prize winning project impressed judges with its vision for a human settlement at Callisto, one of Jupiter’s moons. The students designed a rotating habitat for up to 10,000 people, with ideas including sustainable food production, water recycling, oxygen generation, asteroid mining, and even a space elevator linking Callisto to an orbital station.
This outstanding achievement has earned the team an invitation to present their project at the International Space Development Conference (ISDC) 2026, which takes place in McLean, Virginia, from June 4th to June 7th, 2026.
This is an extraordinary opportunity for these students to represent their school, their county, and Ireland on an international stage.
We are seeking support to help cover the costs of travel, accommodation, and conference attendance.
Every donation, no matter how small, will help these talented young people take part in a once-in-a-lifetime educational experience and showcase Irish innovation, imagination, and scientific ambition to a global audience.
Thank you for supporting the students of St Flannan’s College as they set their sights on the stars.
