$2,050 raised

The Steward Family with medical and travel costs
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Aly, and this is the only way I know how to help the Steward family during this difficult time. Claire was born on July 17th; as many of you know, she was born with Spina Bifida, hydrocephalus, and bilateral club feet. Claire required surgery 24 hours after delivery for the lesion on her spine. Just days later, Claire had to have a shunt placed. Claire tolerated both surgeries well, recovered in the NICU and could go home with her family.
On Monday, August 8th Claire was taken by ambulance to MMC in Portland due to respiratory distress. Claire was admitted to the PICU and has required oxygen since she arrived there. It has been determined that Claire has a viral illness; however, they were also able to catch an infection due to this viral illness. Claire may even need to have her shunt replaced.
Today while starting a PICC line for antibiotics, Claire's oxygen dropped, and her heart stopped. Claire required CPR. Her care team was able to revive her, and she is now on CPAP.
I pray that I can give positive updates after today. Claire is a strong & stubborn girl, like her Mama.
Sam will be staying in Portland for the unforeseeable future, and Todd will be working, caring for the girls, and commuting to and from Portland.
We all know that Sam is stubborn and proud and would never ask for help, but we also know that she is the first to be there to help.
I hope we can rally around her in this time of need to help relieve the added burden of transportation, food, and medical costs.
If you cannot afford to donate, please consider sharing this page, prayers, and positive thoughts for sweet Claire.
