Steven was an incredible human being. He was a beloved son, an exceptionally loving brother, a caring uncle, and a tremendously compassionate friend to many people. Unfortunately, he was also struggling with a pain that he kept so well hidden underneath all of his love.

My little brother Steve-o was the best partner in crime a growing man could ask for. He was utterly hilarious, strikingly handsome, and had a friendly competitive nature that made everyone want to join in on whatever game he was playing. His smile and laughter were an infection that spread to every corner of every room he was in. He was the kind of guy that would give the shirt off his back and then laugh at you for how small you looked in it. He was passionate about personal fitness, exploring the outdoors, traveling, geology, gaming, and just shooting the breeze. There was not a face that he encountered that he could not put a smile on.

When my family awoke to the news of his passing this week, all we could do was hold each other. We never imagined our beloved Steve-o, who was teeming with life at just 24 years old, could be so lost in an internal battle that would take his life. My family was devastated. After losing my older brother David to cancer almost 11 years ago now, I thought our family had suffered the worst. The strength that is being commanded to overcome the loss of my younger brother now is far too much to obtain without some help.

This page is dedicated to raising the funds needed to give Steven the service and memorial that a man of his caliber deserves. My family will utilize this help to make his unexpected journey to the beyond a powerful and healing one for all the lives that he touched. Moreover, we will dedicate any additional funds to a charity that supports mental health and suicide prevention for young adults.

Steven's former employer, REI has also reached out to make a contribution in his name to any charity of our choosing.

My family is in deep gratitude to any who can help transform this experience into an outpouring of love and support for those who have or are, struggling with suicide and its related challenges.
