The Station Community Support Fund
As you may have seen in recent news . For the last 10 years the Station coffee house owned by Luis and Leona has been a cultural hub not only for Beacon Hill but for Seattle. The spirit of the Station has always been about BIPOC community, racial justice and giving back. Over the years it has become a gathering place for racial justice activists, artist and the surrounding community. It's hard to imagine Beacon Hill or Seattle without The Station Coffee house. Luis and Leona have given so much to the community and many of us call it home. For us personally, our family started because of the connections and friends we made at The Station Coffee house. We can honestly say we would not have the family we have today if it weren't for this hub connecting us with the wonderful people we know and love today. "The Station supported the Beacon Hill community heavily in the spring by allowing Cleveland High School to move its emergency food pantry at the station and continues accepting non perishable food, cleaning supply and feminine products. The station donated a large space of their cafe for these items to support the community and so many people out of work including kids that lost access to this crucial emergency food pipeline. In addition, The Station coordinated with Beacon Hill Garden Club to do monthly garden shares which now has a permanent seed library." The pandemic of 2020 has had a disproportionate impact on BIPOC community health and small business. It is now time to give back to The Station coffee house (a Black and Latinx owned business) so that it is not displaced. Now more than ever we will need iconic cultural anchors like The Station to get us through this difficult time and provide a place of healing. This GoFundMe is setup to help The Station raise the funds needed to cover operating costs through the end of 2020. Ideally we would like to raise enough money to help stabilize the business and continue operations through the end of 2021+ but lets start with 2020. Thank you for your generous contribution.
